Let’s go back to 1994! The advice in 1994? start offering solids at 4-6 months of age. In more recent years this advice has changed and the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the UK governhment now advise to start weaning at “around 6 months”.
So, when is the right time?
As mentioned earlier the WHO recommends from “around 6 months” which goes hand in hand with the NHS recommendations of showing the 3 signs of readiness before starting your baby on solids.
All babies reach milestones at different times, some babies might have reached these developmental stages at 5.5 months and others at 7 or 8 months.
Starting your baby on solid food is an exciting time. By looking for signs of readiness and following recommended guidelines, you can help support your baby on their weaning journey.
